Community Spotlight
Washington Elementary would like to recognize and thank the volunteers of Genesis Church. These volunteers work with our a group of our students twice a week off campus to tutor and provide a meal.
Genesis also provides food and clothing for families in the Fayetteville community.
These volunteers are always “a call way” to help any of our students and we are proud of our partnership and thank them for the their service.

After week one Washington has raised more than $1,600! We have two weeks left. This week we will play heart healthy games and discuss eating healthy foods low in fat and salt.

Don't forget that being read to counts as minutes also! Minutes can only qualify after school is out or weekends. Classroom reading does not qualify. 360 minutes is the minimum minutes students are required to read to receive a prize and be entered into the drawing of the Book Hog Field Trip to Bud Walton Arena.

TODAY is National Crosswalk/Crossing Guard Appreciation Day! We will be giving our crosswalk guards some special treatment from the parents. I'd encourage parents to have their students write a little thank you note to give them just as a little special thanks for keeping them safe when crossing.
Washington Elementary's Book Swap is coming February 27th. Mark your calendars! Donations for this event are greatly appreciated. Books can be dropped off in the plastic bin located in the hallway that runs alongside the office anytime between now and February 22nd. Book Hogs Reading Contest begins today! Students are to read 360 minutes during the month of February to get a chance of their name being drawn to go to the Bud Walton Arena for a Book Hogs party with razorback athletes.
TODAY is World Read Aloud Day. As the biggest literacy drive in the country, World Read Aloud Day seeks to draw attention to the importance of reading aloud to children!
Please read aloud to your children often and talk about the importance of reading!
